James and his team at FOLAR are absolutely fantastic. Very approachable and really listened to us to help create our dream home design. We consider ourselves fussy and James has made the whole experience completely stress free. We had previously used a Building Designer/Draftsman to save on fees & this time decided to invest in an Architect - the outcome speaks for itself!

He really listens and we've enjoyed every step of the journey.

Kellie & Scott

Conceived as a striking linear form at the peak of the hill overlooking Currumbin Valley, this new home embraces its elevated position while remaining deeply grounded in its setting.

Internally, a sunken lounge alludes to sitting within the terrain, framed by panoramic views out to the landscape. The white brick fireplace acts as the connecting bridge between ground and sky - a landmark on the hill.

Lightweight materials create a sense of luxury through simplicity, balancing cost efficiency with refined detailing. A series of courtyards are carved into the building’s form, allowing light, greenery and air to flow internally.

A dark, charred external cladding grew out of initial conversations with the client, who wanted a dark, bold home that would complement the landscaped setting.
