Situated on a narrow, sloping site in Red Hill, Brisbane, this project involved the demolition of a 1970s shack & the construction of a new architectural family home.
A raking cathedral ceiling peaks at 5 metres high over the living space highlighting the heart of the home & emphasising the design approach of keeping the building form clean & pure.
Subtropical design has been a key consideration in the layout of the home – the central courtyard capturing natural breezes & facilitating a seamless transition between inside and out.
Finely detailed aluminium batten screening softens the harsh western sun while allowing patterns of light & shadow to animate the interior.
The bold dark exterior provides a striking counterpoint to the crisp white interiors, where deep green cabinetry & emotive stone finishes introduce warmth & tactility. A subterranean space at the rear of the garage houses a gym & wellness space, wine cellar & zones for battery storage & solar connections.
