Q/ How did you find the experience working with FOLAR designing your home?
A/ The whole process was everything we wanted. James and the team made us feel comfortable & took the time to understand our vision and what we were trying to achieve. The ideas that they came up with added a lot of value to help us come up with the design for our dream family home.
Q/ Can you describe the experience of the Construction of your home? Any lessons that your learnt along the way that you think others would find valuable?
A/ We were very lucky – we had a great architect and a great builder, and they both worked extremely well together. The relationship between the Client, Architect & Builder is so important for a smooth design & build process, & we feel fortunate we had the right parties involved from Day 1. We would recommend to work with someone who you get on well with as it could be 2-3 years of working together by the time the project is complete. We felt we put the right amount of trust in James & his team as well as our builder.
Q/ Any unexpected benefits of completing your Architectural home?
A/ As soon as people walk in they realise very quickly this is not your standard house, that it has been designed by an experienced architect. The ‘wow’ factor is instant. The value that we found was that James challenged some of our original thinking of what our design could be & we were blown away by the initial concepts which were clearly articulated by James & clearly communicated through the 3D renderings prepared by the team. The other benefit is everything has been thought of by James & his team during the design stage from a functionality point of view, so we don’t have any regrets or thoughts after moving in that we missed something.
Q/ How did you find the experience of working with James & the FOLAR team?
A/ We would highly recommend FOLAR to anyone looking to create a special Architectural family home. They were fantastic - professional, approachable & proactive. They took our design Brief and nailed it straight away. They were also really good at finding different products and building materials that we would have never considered.
Q/ Anything you would change or do differently?
A/ Honestly, very little. If we did it again we would probably be more relaxed. We had some nerves going into the experience as it was our first time building a house and we had heard the horror stories of other people. However, with James and his team, it ended up being an enjoyable experience and we really do love living in our architecturally designed home.
